I met Édith Thoueille, a childcare nurse running the Service d'Aide à la Parentalité des Personnes Handicapées in Paris, who for twenty years has done exceptional work with blind women wishing to become mothers, fighting prejudice and encouraging them to take the step; this encounter was decisive, as I saw and photographed Édith accompanying a young blind mother and her baby, and then the others, observing with admiration how precisely and rightly these women handled their children. I tried to imagine, closing my eyes naively, to see what they do not see, without success, realising instead that they saw what I did not, and it seemed absurd to try to compare or find a difference.
