In his work as photographer and sculptor, Laurent Millet composes the chapters of an imaginary encyclopedia populated with objects he builds in natural settings or in his studio, hybrid assemblages of traditional, scientific and architectural objects as well as works by artists he admires. Sculpture, drawing, tinkering, installation? The artist sets up "poetic machineries" which he then photographs, the final image justifying every step that preceded it, relying more on a certain erudite clumsiness than on skill as he questions images, both those he produces and those still latent, waiting in the landscape or in objects, to be awakened. Winner of the 2014 Nadar Prize.
