Edited by Michel Poivert, with contributions from Nathalie Boulouch, Audrey Leblanc and Valérie Perles, the inaugural theme of the Cahiers de la Fondation Gilles Caron reflects the wish of foundation president Marianne Caron and director Louis Bachelot to make Caron's photographic work a space of reflection beyond the study of his own corpus; colour is almost antagonistic to our idea of news reportage, a tradition that celebrates black-and-white values to the point of doctrine, yet since the foundation's creation the reconstitution of the photographer's output has each year brought its share of colour images, since Caron, like his peers, shot in colour as the agencies of the 1960s required.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
