For his 2018 residency, the PMU invited Julien Magre to bring a fresh eye to the world of horse racing. Immersing himself in the racing world, from the training stables of gallop and trot to the racecourse itself, the photographer discovered the behind-the-scenes life of the emblematic Chantilly and Grosbois venues, questioning the boundary between human intelligence and animal instinct, his images revealing the respect riders and trainers show their horses daily and the strength of the bond, the "respect of the hand", that unites them.
