For forty years Françoise Huguier has been a recognised gatherer of images, captured backstage at fashion shows, on assignment in Japan, in the limbo of a ghostly Africa, in the holds of Siberia, in the back rooms of Korean society. Less widely known, she is also an insatiable collector of objects, mostly brought home from her travels, turning her house into a vast cabinet of curiosities: paintings, jewellery, trinkets, film posters, clothes, fanzines, crockery, masks, books, dolls, rugs, shells, each one taking on meaning as she tells its story, shown alongside her photographic work at an exhibition at the Musée du Quai Branly conceived as a travel diary.
