Pascal Mirande creates personal, fictional universes through built volumes and fabricated objects, ships, aeroplanes, architectures, photographed or drawn, diverting a visual language borrowed at times from twentieth-century photography to stage and tell the stories he loves to invent: flying machines built from twigs, string and paper in the spirit of Leonardo da Vinci and the first aeroplanes, photographed "in flight" so that blur gives the landscape the look of a stage set, the frame itself, inspired by daguerreotypes, theatricalising the whole image.
