Heading West is a critical homage as much as a travel book or the synopsis of a film to come, questioning our fascination with the American West and its clichés, the fruit of an artist residency in Sedona, Arizona, in the summer of 2017. Having already confronted the landscapes of the Great American West on earlier trips and felt the strange sensation of stepping straight into cinematic fiction, the photographer constructs here a thoroughly personal, ultimately very French, American fiction through some fifty photographs and texts that answer one another in a circular fashion, mapping a geography both mental and physical.
