Fifty years after the start of the Algerian War, the history of the Harkis is only beginning to surface in public consciousness. Julien Chapsal set out to question identity and belonging within this "community of fate", listening to people, visiting places and immersing himself in a complex, delicate history. Two series echo one another: women and men of varied ages and backgrounds posing before the camera as simple witnesses of their belonging, and the camps where many of them transited or stayed on arrival in France, still today markers of a collective memory.
