The Flight Attendants series is the result of two years spent photographing the lives of flight attendants, on duty and off. Brian Finke's visual vocabulary borrows from fashion and advertising: caught in these poses, the figures appear frozen, stylised, idealised, as the attendants themselves seem to cling to the glamour of their profession. But Finke also reminds us of their individuality, and the images of their everyday life are the most unsettling, since we recognise our own lives in them, exploring the gap between our dreams of glamour and freedom and the reality.
