Working in the tradition of documentary photography, narrative and committed reportage, Ferhat Bouda bears witness, preferably in black and white, taking the time needed to go beyond appearances and the clichés that too often obscure his subjects. In Kabylia, among Azawad activists or in Germany where he is based, he focuses on minorities: from Berbers to nomadic peoples such as the Tuareg and Mongols. Published in the "Cahier" series of facsimile working notebooks, this book opens up the intimacy of his creative process through sketches, notes and contact sheets.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
