A photographer and filmmaker, Valérie Jouve belongs to the generation of French artists who moved away from the great humanist tradition of photo-reportage without entirely rejecting its useful, essential elements. She works from landscapes, above all urban ones, folding into her photographs portraits of men and women in motion - a speciality that bridges the two classical subjects of landscape and portrait.
