Anne-Lise Broyer, Nicolas Comment, Amaury da Cunha and Marie Maurel de Maillé decided to come together, to think through their images collectively and arrange them as a single organic whole. Though their routes have been distinct, they recognised parallel or kindred experiences running beneath their individual singularities, and with Being Beauteous they try to find a shared photographic gesture - an attempt, as one contributor puts it, to reawaken a concept with a rich history, far from exhausted.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
