Le Lieu Unique in Nantes hosted an exhibition of young Korean artists titled Au quartier coréen, inviting visitors into a culture of contrasts and paradoxes between tradition and modernity. Around the pressures of contemporary life, Korean contemporary art stakes out its own identity: Jeong-Hwa Choi, for instance, turns a critical eye on the attractions of a consumer society steadily encroaching on traditional culture, assembling a vast wall of consumer imagery into a single biting "collection."
