A new, revised and updated edition, with new texts and pictures, of the book first collected in 2001, the third by the photographer and storyteller in the series after Ti mangio con gli occhi and Visti&Scritti. The title refers to the columns he wrote over the years for L’Europeo, Photo, La Quinzaine littéraire, Per Lui, Lei and the Sunday supplement of Il Sole 24 Ore, and to many other pieces from which the texts were chosen, with their recurring "themes and small obsessions": a way of thinking about photography as a reflection on life, history, aesthetics and ideas. Over time it has become a classic, a rare example of active observation of authors, publishing projects, exhibitions, habits and theories in the field. The book has two sections. The first deals with "hot" topics such as reality and representation, testimony and historical memory, craft or art, ethics and aesthetics, but also fashion, the making of a star, the revisiting of a photographic topos, the rituals of mass photography, and the misdeeds of photography exploited by power. The second is an anthology of essays on individual figures, from August Sander to Richard Avedon, from Henri Cartier-Bresson to Francesco Cito, Francesca Woodman, Oliviero Toscani and Gianni Berengo Gardin.
