Catalogue published for the auction held at LE BAL on 30 June 2010
In the années folles, 6 Impasse de la Défense was a cabaret, a "hotel of love" and a dance hall. A high place of partying and pleasure, the Chez Isis guinguette drew a clientele that came to slum it at the gates of Paris. Despite their research, LE BAL found no pictures dating from that period; they therefore decided to collect original photographs of other dance halls, cabarets and brothels of the same era, in Paris and in other cities. These "true/false" archives stand as an imaginary projection of the history of the building that now houses LE BAL. The collection was then sold at auction on 30 June 2010 during a great evening at LE BAL, and became the subject of this publication.
