When the photographer Patrícia Almeida died in November 2017 she left unfinished a project for a volume on her "personal history of photography". Months earlier she had begun gathering documents: the examples she gave her students, obsolete second-hand manuals, her own earliest frames. On the day of her death the undertaker asked for a portrait for the wake. Which one to choose? Which person to show? How do you sum up, reduce and concentrate a person into a single picture? This work recounts the search for that impossible likeness and revisits the unfinished project, setting the making of pictures against the making of identities, of recollections and of ghosts.
