The volume presents the results of a search carried out over several years by Patrizia Mussa, devoted to the historic theatres that punctuate Italy. A journey through history and geography and, at the same time, through the imagination these buildings evoke, having hosted the most celebrated performances on their stages.

From the Greek theatre at Segesta to the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, to those of Sabbioneta and Parma, by way of La Scala in Milan, the San Carlo in Naples, La Fenice in Venice and the Teatro Argentina in Rome.
