Set within the quiet intimacy of a home, it is uncertain whether this series is a personal document or a performative exchange. Created by the long time collaborators Maxwell Anderson and Todd Lamming, it plays with the idea of ambiguous sexuality and the domesticisation of sexual tension.
The relationship between the photographer and his subject is unclear: whether the two are friends or lovers, whether they have known each other for one night or one decade. Their interactions are both lustful and banally familiar. The photographer muses over the man we see, both observing him voyeuristically and making direct eye contact. The man alternates between casual indifference and deliberate engagement with his companion, sometimes appearing unaware, sometimes knowingly participating. The expectation of desire merges with mundane domestic ritual.
