Colours, Shapes, Places, Movement, Light: these are the section headings of the book gathering Paolillo's underwater work.

Shoals of fish snaking their way around, shining crinoids, branching gorgonians and close-ups of spectacular jellyfish, sharks and turtles: his pictures portray a world of bright hues, crowded yet silent, through which the long story of its inhabitants unfolds. The images describe fish, animals, subjects and environments of the underwater world, mostly marine but also of fresh water, in Amazonia. They were taken over many years.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
