With a text by Furio Colombo and an interview by Sandro Parmiggiani

In the nineteen sixties America was a myth and Nespolo went there often; in the eighties he settled in New York and every day, camera in hand, wandered the streets, immersing himself in a world that was changing, full of ferment and tension.

The volume gathers forty pictures made in the city between 1981 and 1997, which record those legendary years and help to explain some of the roots of his work as a painter. It also carries the presentation written by Furio Colombo for his solo show in New York in 1983 and an interview by Sandro Parmiggiani.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
