In her life Vergano had the good fortune to travel to Spain, Turkey, Afghanistan, Algeria, Niger and Mauritania, where she made the pictures in this book: faces of people from different countries, flowers, colours, landscapes, portraits, but also hidden things, objects of daily life that she began to perceive as new and unusual and that she fixed in frames which stopped time.

She then found words to sit harmoniously beside the images, with quotations from writers such as Alberto Moravia, Italo Calvino, Jorge Luis Borges and Pablo Neruda placed alongside popular sayings and lines from songs.
