Though the threat of a changing climate is very real and touches us daily, its causes and consequences are often hard to put into words and harder still to picture. Epstein's monumental achievement across the last two decades has been to convey the intangible dynamics of production and power that threaten the environment, and to record both the visions of those who oppose that threat and the faint murmur of the forest that survives in time.
