In the region of Malmö, in Sweden, groups of teenagers kill their boredom by meeting on the edge of their villages to try out their EPA tractors: old cars converted for agricultural use, which the law lets them drive from the age of fifteen. The vehicles became extremely popular among the young in the countryside; they gather among themselves and organise races.
The smell of rubber and oil saturates the air as the boys make the engines roar, the tyres screech and the dust rise, to impress the girls. Bogren works at the distance of a silent witness, subtle and kindly. His pictures are grainy black and white, all in shades of grey.
