“I met Paolo Fresu about eighteen years ago for a book I had to make for the Auditorium in Rome; he was playing a concert with Ludovico Einaudi and I made portraits of them together. During the rehearsal Einaudi, at the grand piano on stage, was looking for Paolo, because he could hear the sound of his trumpet but could not see him: he had disappeared into the third gallery.”
