He spent the summer of 1970 on holiday in south-eastern Sicily and, with his two Leicas, made what was his first project. Years later he found at the back of his cellar a hundred or so black-and-white negatives, most of them never printed, witnesses to a world that has gone and to a man who has become someone else since.
