In the nineteen eighties Calvenzi, then starting out in journalism, proposed to the magazine Il Fotografo that she interview a series of makers she particularly admired. In no fixed order: Bill Brandt, David Bailey, Chris Steele-Perkins, Arthur Tress, André Kertész, William Klein. The magazine agreed and — more incredible to her — so did the photographers, who agreed to meet her, to talk and to be photographed. For some years she went on making interviews.
