After exploring the Europe of great cities and drawing from it a clear, calm, unstereotyped reading, Granatiero went back to the city where he was born to look at it from the point of view of the people who live there. Though he spent only his first years in Venice, the tie held; what he gives is not the city of the postcards but the one its inhabitants keep going.
