Thirty-five pictures made in Africa between 2005 and 2008: Burkina Faso, the Comoros, Madagascar, Senegal and Togo.
“I have stayed many times in this vast territory called French West Africa in colonial times, as well as in the heart of the Indian Ocean. These islands and lands inherited a common language and currency, but also awkward borders. With these pictures I seek to understand the scars of a hazardous affair and its contemporary resonances. It is not a matter of illustration, nor of narration, but of an emotional inventory. A journey at the blue hour. A conversation between my doubts and a part of raw humanity, the part that refers to survival, existence, humility. Here I learn to see, to live.”
