The book sets out to be an experimental territory: a visual essay. Vincent Genet seeks to create, within the double page, a new space — that of the fresco. The dispersal of pictures of different sizes, the partial overlapping of some of them, the passage to the next page, together make a sensitive space in which to transmit a particularly subjective personal feeling.

We come across the ordinary life of Lebanon today in all its diversity. The pictures were taken in 2021 and 2022, after the popular uprisings that followed the explosion at the port of Beirut on 4 August 2020 and the clashes between the Lebanese forces, Hezbollah and the Amal movement. Extremely topical, the work borrows from the documentary tradition all the signs of committed testimony.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
