“Now that summer had come to the three dull buddies, real men as they were, they braced themselves up and decided to go on a trip.

I wanna see alligators, one of the men said. I'd like to go to a queer kind of place, said the second. I think I would prefer to see something nasty, the third one said.

Well in that case, the eastern side of the Izu peninsula is definitely the place to go. Alligators one can see at the Atagawa Tropical and Alligator Garden, the Ayashii Museum in Ito is pretty queer, and there's no nastier place around than the Atami Adult Museum. The three simpletons boarded a bright red Mazda — wherever that came from — and embarked on their overnight trip to eastern Izu. It was such a fun time they had.”

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
