“Last November, while the Paris Photo fair was on, I went to Paris for the first time in two years, mainly for business connected with the fair, so I thought I would take some snaps while in the city to fill a few pages of the next issue. I eventually spent one of my five days there devoting myself to it.

While working in the Saint-Michel neighbourhood, the Rue Mouffetard and the area around the Moulin Rouge, my memory gradually transported me back thirty years, to the time when I lived in Paris for a brief moment. I had rented an apartment at the foot of the Rue Mouffetard, and day after day I would grab my camera and take to the streets to wander with no particular aim.”

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
