“On the occasion of the fiftieth volume of this journal my work was shown in a long-term slide event in Ginza, from late May until early October.

I visited the venue several times, placed myself in the middle of the five thousand miscellaneous images projected onto every inch of the walls by seven projectors, and enjoyed the strange experience of standing there, isolated from daily life, hit from all sides by showers of light. The images covering the walls were quite certainly slides of my own work, but due to the complex, constantly changing entanglement of space and time the pictures I looked at nimbly slipped out of my field of vision and left me transformed into a sleepwalker wandering through far and unknown landscapes. The strange and chaotic views of Tokyo, Marrakech and New York had disconnected from the one who shot them, to pursue the anonymous notion that is supposedly inherent in a picture.”

ABOUT

SpineIndex is a digital platform dedicated to independent photobooks, photography publications, design books, and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
