Gestus is the third monographic volume of work by Yvonne Venegas published by Editorial RM. Focusing on the practice of portraiture in Mexico City.

The book explores the author’s personal approach to this traditional genre from two directions: first, portraits taken by Venegas of people recruited through classified ads and flyers; and second, images of other photographers working during portrait sessions. The combination of these two viewpoints provides a contemporary vision that both closes in on, and takes a distance from, different situations in which people relate to the camera.
