Daisuke Yokota's most personal work, in the tradition of the confessional photographic I-novel. It joins two bodies of work — a 2007 road trip to Tohoku and pictures made in Tokyo in 2014 — sparked by an ancient ginkgo tree in Aomori, the "taratine," worshipped by generations of women for its fertility-enhancing powers. The book weaves animism, childhood memory and devotion to the women in the artist's life, his mother and his girlfriend, into a sensory ode that is as much about sounds and smells as images.
