This catalogue consists of a small selection of photographs taken by Glyadelov during the first days of war in Kiev in march 2022, and in eastern Ukraine, where the war has been going on since 2014.

Today, these photographs are, on the one hand, documentation of historical events that seem to have inevitably moved away from us in time and space. On the other hand, the geography of hostilities has changed – now they are taking place all over Ukraine, and their intensity changed too – instead of peaks of activity and periods of relative calm of 8 years – almost round-the-clock bombing. But the essence has not changed. War always brings suffering, ruin and pain – capitalized truths, (un)learned history lesson.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
