"I'm known for taking pictures very close, and the older I get, the closer I get." In 2011 New York street photographer Bruce Gilden was commissioned by the Archive of Modern Conflict to capture the people and places of London. Kalev Erickson, who accompanied him on his daily forays to photograph passers-by and wrote about their encounters in Issue 1 of the AMC2 journal, draws on the photographs from the London project to make this book of very close portraits.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
