Photographs shot over a few hours in Washington D.C. on 13 December 2014, during the civil rights protests that followed the fatal shooting and the unrest in Ferguson. Rizzi gives back a sharp, paradigmatic work on American society as a whole and on the importance of a political demonstration that is a sign of the times and follows its prescribed script. He plays with the fragments and cracks of a moment that could be historic for the struggle of the Black community but does not appear to be so: the sculptures at play are actors both united and alone.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
