Although the search for novelty is intrinsic to human nature, deep in our intimacy we delight in the pleasure of routine, because it offers us the temporary illusion of controlling time and, in this way, of dominating it. Following the poetics of previous works, Tagliaferri in A Swimming Pool involves us in the representation of his love/hate relationship with routine: on the one hand he continually tries to escape it, while on the other he is aware of needing it. Reading the seven chapters that make up the book, one experiences a pleasure comparable to that of simple daily rituals, recognising those repetitions and cycles in which we have gradually settled since we abandoned nomadic life.
