The rainbow is underestimated is the second book by Piero Percoco published by Skinnerboox. Following the success of Prism Interiors, in which a selection of images was curated in collaboration with Jason Fulford, this new project moves toward a more extensive and structured body of work drawn from several years of production.

The book develops as a visual exercise in sequencing, built through a long process of editing and reflection on images created over the past five years. Rather than relying on traditional double-page spreads, the sequence is constructed as a continuous flow of individual photographs, linked through visual echoes, associations and shifting semantic relationships.

The result is a narrative that privileges rhythm over fixed structure, allowing images to resonate across the sequence and generate unexpected connections. The publication becomes a compact journey through an imaginative and personal visual universe, shaped by one of the most distinctive photographic voices in contemporary Italian photography.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
