Photographs made by Mari Amita for SNAKE ON THE BEACH, the solo project of the musician Yusuke Chiba. The book gathers the shots used in the booklets of the albums together with outtakes from the making process, recomposing striking landscapes and portraits that capture Chiba's presence.

The chapters answer four albums, 'DEAR ROCKERS', '潮騒', 'real light real darkness' and 'SINGS', and fragments of each world follow one another quietly: desolate seaside scenery, scenes that appear between takes, and portraits of Chiba. The silence and aftertaste before and after the sound are carefully gathered by Amita's gaze. Where music and image cross, the book reveals another landscape of the project and lets readers follow Chiba's solo activity as a sequence of quiet, powerful pictures.
