By analysing the different aspects that define the landscape of north-eastern Italy, and focusing on the critical factors linked to the ongoing processes of dispersion and fragmentation characteristic of this specific geographical area, OMNE – Mobile Observatory North East has continued the photographic campaigns launched in 2016. It commissioned five artists in residence and three invited photographers to conduct an investigation of the Veneto region, proposing a reflection on the concept of Beauty.
The publication is conceived as a box set containing, in addition to a substantial body of texts by academics and experts—including Salvatore Settis’ essay “Will Beauty Save the World?”—eight booklets, one for each photographer, in line with a plural interpretation of the very notion of beauty.
OMNE – Mobile Observatory North East explores the environmental, architectural, anthropological, social and cultural aspects of north-eastern Italy through an artistic approach. The origin of the project lies in the idea of a journey, a path through the territory in search of possible relationships between space, landscape and the bodies that inhabit it.
