Photography, from its origins, developed around two axes: the family photo and the travel photo. Whether tourist souvenirs captured by amateurs or reports from the other end of the world, photography essentially has a status associated with the idea of displacement, of a change of scenery, of elsewhere. And each time travel shakes up our preconceived ideas and upsets our daily life: far from home we forget the everyday and are confronted with wonder. This is what we wanted to highlight here: the everyday of some can become the wonder of others, whether travellers or visitors to a photo exhibition (the Festival du Regard converts a gigantic former post office in Cergy-Pontoise, a journey in itself). For such is the power of the still image: stopping time and space in order to offer an interpretation that is both documentary and poetic, both realistic and fictional. Exhibiting photographers: Evgenia Arbugaeva, Rémi Noël, Cédric Delsaux, Graciela Iturbide, Davide Monteleone, Gregor Beltzig, Anita Conti, Bogdan Konopka, FLORE, Philippe Séclier, Richard Mosse, Richard Pak, Ronan Guillou, Giorgio Negro and Robert Kluba. The Voyages extra-ordinaires as seen by Sabine Weiss, Vivian Maier, Bernard Plossu, Max Pam, Françoise Nuñez, Jean-Christophe Béchet and Eric Dessert. The artistic directors of the Festival du Regard are Sylvie Hugues and Mathilde Terraube.
