Raghubir Singh explores each region of India methodically, and so in his portrait of society he neglects none of its components: workers, peasants, artists, intellectuals. To this day there is hardly a place in India of which he does not have a memory, if only that of a simple visit. But he has also crossed the country from end to end, taking for instance the natural and sacred route of the Ganges, from its sources to the sea, or one of the oldest roads of the continent, "The Grand Trunk Road", linking Calcutta to Peshawar, in Pakistan.
