Something happened to Rip Hopkins on arriving at the departmental museum of Prehistory of Île-de-France in Nemours, the least known, least accessible and "oldest" in France. An injunction from the dawn of time pushed him to make a series of primitive scenes in which he placed his 60 models. What history, or what prehistory, is it? That of the artistic act. In each picture it is that, and that is why they are both different and all the same. If Rip Hopkins asked Christophe Donner to write alongside his images, it is less to comment on or interpret them than to extend the artistic act that took place each time at the museum.
