Sakina M'sa writes as she sews. Her books, like her dress collections, form a patchwork, a motley, illuminated, re-embroidered mosaic, an Ali Baba's cave where everyone will find their happiness. Sakina is there, in obstinate search of her dream dress, of her "heroine" as she already calls her, the one she never manages to sew. This book alternates dresses and letters written for Björk, Bulle Ogier, Patti Smith, Marianne Faithfull and Agnès Varda, but also addressed to unknown women, from Malika to Bessra. The path of this designer is marked by two fundamental aspects of clothing: its aesthetic potential on the one hand and, on the other, its value as a social code. Sakina does not speak of woman as an object but as an actress of society, a citizen who does not give up beauty. From the outset Sakina M'sa has developed a very personal writing of fashion that defies any standardisation.
