The new edition of the Planches Contact Festival opens in Deauville under the sign of intimacy, a theme that resonates with the very vocation of photography: capturing the invisible, revealing what plays out behind appearances. Artistic direction is by Lionel Charrier and Jonas Tebib. From the gaze turned on oneself to the one turned towards others, this edition questions the multiple forms of proximity, relationships, tensions and silence, in private space as in landscape, in the body as in memory. It welcomes two major figures of the international scene, with both a retrospective exhibition and a residency work in Normandy: Arno Rafael Minkkinen, master of the body-landscape, delivers a visual meditation in which the nude body becomes a vanishing line between self and world, and Lin Zhipeng (No. 223), figure of the new Chinese photography, unveils a joyful, erotic and colourful intimacy captured during his Normandy wanderings. Between established names and new voices, between radical black and white and sensual chromatism, the edition composes a multiple narrative of the intimate, at human height. Guests around intimacy: Claude Cahun & Cindy Sherman, Lin Zhipeng, Renato D'Agostin, Myriam Boulos, Carline Bourdelas, Julien Magre, Anna Malagrida, Arno Rafael Minkkinen, Henrike Stahl and Frédéric Stucin; Prix de la Jeune Création Photographique: Jérémy Appert, Simon Bouillère, Naïma Lecomte, Anaïs Ondet; Photo4Food scholarship: Daniel Blaufuks, Adrien Boyer, Amélie Chassary, Marilia Destot.

ABOUT

The project

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.

Images and rights

Covers, interior pages and descriptions are shown to introduce and identify the books, always crediting publisher, author and photographer and linking back to the publisher. We ask publishers for their permission, and we remove anything on request within 7 days. If you are a publisher, an author or a photographer and you want something changed or removed, write to info@spineindex.it.
