Martine Locatelli places the portrait at the heart of her work, a gaze on the individual within their affective, family and social environment; models are photographed in their everyday setting, lighting, framing and attitude producing a shift that places the image between fiction and reality. Locatelli's images form a kind of wandering and quest, conjugated with the imaginary toward an in-between marking the space of connection and otherness, the street, the garden, the river; born in 1964 in Belfort, where she lives and works, she was in 2003 a laureate of the Villa Kujoyama programme in Kyoto and received a Ministry of Culture Mission 2000 commission in Paris.
