Molène is a drop of land set on the ocean's surface, sea-dew distilled across Bannec, Balanec, Trielen, the island of Christians, Litiri, Quéménès and Béniguet, forming, among other outcrops, its archipelago, keeping a quiet rivalry with neighbouring Ouessant, which seems more bound to permanence despite the waves' shocks. Molène disappears into mist where light, at this end of the world, refracts more than elsewhere, the ether vibrating with the mingled breath of sea and wind, an island of shelter and rest for those who can reach it through its tangle of reefs, following the channel markers and trusting the compass past the Grand Courleau, the Lièvre, the Grand C'hromm and Men-ar-Roued, before glimpsing the white turret of Trois-Pierres.
