It is often on Sundays that children and parents play together, and so the series Les photos du dimanche was born; these images reveal the innocence of games and the mystery of childhood attitudes, as well as a dizzying mise en abyme of nature, of life and, sometimes, even death. A tinge of strangeness touches these photographs, perhaps because of the costumes and clothing elements that turn a little girl into a princess or a fairy, a fish into a sceptre, stones into treasure; Isabelle Vaillant looks at her subjects, her models, with joyful complicity, as they become co-creators of their own staged images and bodies as much as the artist, before surrendering fully to the photographer's trust.
