Conceived as an investigation, or rather an undefinable quest, the book plunges into a dark, grave universe whose first impression is a sudden loss of bearings, the empty, timeless set gradually giving way to a path marked by codified landmarks the artist places with precision. From the start his approach resembles an alchemist's: using papers, supports and printing processes, he builds his own universe entirely within his apartment, cutting and shaping objects from cardboard and paper gathered daily on his walks, staging and photographing them, making black prints touched up with pencil, pen or paint to alter the light, then waxed to give them new life.
